Don’t you hate missing out on things?
Don’t you hate it even more when those things turn out to be really cool?
You’re not alone!
No one wants to miss out. Especially when it’s stuff that’s relevant to them and other people are talking about it, too.
When you’re building your next email list, keep this “no one likes to miss out” scenario in mind and use it to your advantage. Here’s how:
1. Be a tease
Tease the content of your email before it’s sent out. Try something like “Coming up, find out how to [insert your valuable topic]. Sign up to get it delivered right to your inbox.” Include a link to your sign-up page.
2. Post a summary
Summarize an article from your newsletter on your Facebook Page and ask a provocative question that relates to it. Encourage your current subscribers to join in on the conversation. This public conversation can pique the curiosity of others. If people want to get in on the full conversation they’ll have to join your email list to read the full article.
3. Give away a sample
Tweet and post a link to a sample issue of your newsletter. Let people see a preview of what they could get if they subscribe.
The key here is that the content you have in your email is relevant to your audience. Then you can take advantage of this fear of missing out. Give it a shot and start adding new names to your email list today!
Have you tried any of these tips? What has worked best for you?
I used all three methods and I find that providing value and giving away something free always helps to build readership.
Right on Lincoln!
